Vale Kerri Lane

Author Kerri Lane, who also wrote as Kaz Delaney, has died.

Across both pseudonyms, Lane wrote more than 70 novels for children, young adults, and adult readers.

Lane was an honorary life member of the Romance Writers of Australia (RWA) organisation. Current RWAus president Jem Gowen stated: ‘Kaz was more than an author – she was an advocate, mentor, cheerleader and change-maker who lifted those around her with boundless generosity and warmth. She was a friend to all, always ready with words of encouragement, a contagious laugh, and, without a doubt, the best hugs. Her impact on RWA and the many lives she touched will be felt for years to come. Rest in love, Kaz – you will be dearly missed.’

In a statement, Allen & Unwin said: ‘All of us at Allen & Unwin were saddened to hear about the passing of Kerri Lane. Allen & Unwin published three of Kerri’s delightful YA romantic comedies – Dead, ActuallyAlmost Dead; and The Reluctant Jillaroo – which she wrote under the pen name of Kaz Delaney. Kerri was a delightfully warm person who was generous with her time and spirit, and whose effervescent personality will be much missed. Our hearts go out to her family and friends.’
