New Voices of Aotearoa competition launched

The Coalition for Books has launched the inaugural New Voices of Aotearoa competition.

This promotional program will ‘highlight up and coming New Zealand authors’ and ‘is aimed at identifying, nurturing and increasing readership and sales for brilliant new emerging writing talent’, according to the Coalition for Books, which is a ‘collaborative organisation, tasked with delivering strategic initiatives with the aims of reaching and engaging more audiences with a diverse range of New Zealand books and authors’.

The prize is open to writers of adult fiction or nonfiction who have published their debut book between January 2024 and June 2025. Writers publishing their second book before December 2025 are also eligible.

Ten winners will be announced in June 2025.

More information is available on the Coalition for Books website.
