Sheppard wins 2025 McCraith House Residency
Blak & Bright Festival has announced performing artist and creator Jackie Sheppard as the recipient of its 2025 McCraith House Residency.
The festival said in its announcement: ‘Based in Naarm, Jackie hails from the D’Galag Clan Group and is a shapeshifter who weaves First Nations storytelling, dance, performance and design.’
‘Their practice digs deep into the grief of displacement and the fight to re-centre culture. We know they’ll make some magic down on Boonwurrung Water Country.’
Based in the Mornington Peninsula, the McCraith House Residency Program is run by RMIT Culture. In partnership with the festival, an annual First Nations residency is offered at the house.
