Festival of Fiction 2025 program announced

The Peter Cowan Writers Centre has announced the program for the 2025 Festival of Fiction, to be held at Edith Cowan University’s Joondalup campus 18–19 October.

The festival will showcase 70 authors including Mem Fox, Melina Marchetta, Christos Tsiolkas, Benjamin Stevenson, Sally Hepworth, Michael Robotham and Jock Serong.

Western Australian headliners include Tim Winton, Dervla McTiernan, Tasma Walton, Dave Warner, Michael Trant, Sara Foster, Sasha Wasley, Holden Sheppard and Rachael Johns.

The festival will open with a Welcome to Country and the ‘Australia is a vibe’ panel featuring Anita Heiss, Jock Serong, Fleur McDonald and Holly Craig. Other highlights include a ‘what’s hot and what’s not’ session with industry professionals, and writing masterclass program including Aksel Dadswell, Tim Winton, Jay Kristoff, Candice Fox, Clare Connelly and Kylie Ladd.

Festival director Tess Woods said: ‘The Festival of Fiction is the coming together of Perth’s book loving community in a weekend that’s all about celebrating a love of stories. We have pulled together the biggest names in the industry which is a huge coup for Perth’s readers and writers, especially considering our organising committee is made up entirely of volunteers. It says a lot about the generosity of the Australian publishing industry and the broader community’s enthusiasm for our festival that it has exploded so hugely in only its second year.’

More information is available on the festival website.
