PRH acquires Saintilan-Stocks debut

Penguin Random House Australia (PRH) has acquired ANZ rights for The Right Hand, the debut political handbook from Phoebe Saintilan-Stocks, in a deal brokered by Kelly Fagan.

‘Chiefs of staff are our political system’s ultimate insiders. Prime ministers, presidents, premiers and other leaders around the globe rely on their counsel, their discretion and their ability to manage the backroom business of government,’ said the publisher. ‘The Right Hand is peppered with never-before-told stories and insights into some of the world’s most loved leaders, giving readers new perspectives of significant sociocultural and political events they felt they already knew, offering a glimpse behind the curtain that so often conceals the machinations of power, as well as presenting a vibrant narrative of the real-world West Wing and profound insight into this oft-mentioned but little-explained role.’

Saintilan-Stocks is the founder of Missing Perspectives, a media startup platforming female storytelling worldwide. Established in June 2021, Missing Perspectives currently reaches more than 3 million people a month, and launched an app that connects newsrooms with young female journalists. Saintilan-Stocks has also been a policy adviser, working stints at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Australian Human Rights Commission, the United Nations Secretariat and in the private sector.

She said, ‘I’ve always been curious about the people behind the people. The right hands of the world leaders we know and love. I’ve learned so much from this group – about loyalty, power, pressure and purpose – and I’m so excited to finally share this with the world. These people rarely speak – but when they do, you listen.’

Publisher Meredith Curnow said, ‘Being a big admirer of Phoebe and her brilliant work with Missing Perspectives and a political wonk, The Right Hand is the exact book I want to have on hand, always. I am one happy publisher.’

PRH plans to publish The Right Hand on 4 November 2025.
