Gippsland Writers Festival releases 2025 program

The Gippsland Writers Festival, formerly known as StoryFest, has released its 2025 program.

The festival, which runs 1–3 August in Yarram, will open with ‘You are Here’, a conversation featuring Michael Earp, RWR McDonald, Troy Hunter and Lisa Habermann, discussing where they are as writers, but also where queer writing is in Australia.

Sessions across the weekend include writing workshops; panels on crime, historical fiction, romance and character; and opportunities to participate in a murder mystery party. Some of the concluding festival events on 3 August include ‘Role Playing Games at The Regent Theatre’ which will include a range of games, and the free ‘Writers Picnic’ with Amy Han where creatives can bring a picnic and creative implements to work in a group.

The official festival bookseller will be Atticus Bookshop and Gallery in Foster.

Among the authors appearing are Alli Parker, Amy Han, Siang Lu, Elly Marney, Mark Smith and Nikki Gemmell.

‘We believe that stories have the power to connect us, challenge our perspectives, and build a more inclusive and understanding world. Join us as we celebrate the joy of reading and writing, and discover the power of words to transform lives,’ said the organisers.

More information about the festival and the full program is available on the Gippsland Writers Festival website.
