Scribble acquires Busuttil Nishimura’s picture book debut

Scribble has acquired world rights to Sundays Under the Lemon Tree written by Julia Busuttil Nishimura and illustrated by Myo Yim, via Busuttil Nishimura’s agent Alexandra Neville. Scribble has also sold rights to Korea.

Sundays Under the Lemon Tree ‘follows a young child’s journey from being told they’re “too small” to help with the family’s food preparations, to becoming an essential part of their Sunday cooking ritual,’ said the publisher. ‘The book celebrates intergenerational cooking traditions and the special bonds formed in family kitchens and includes a delicious recipe for the featured apple, lemon and ricotta cake for families to make at home.’

Busuttil Nishimura is a food writer for Gourmet TravellerGood Weekend and The Design Files. She is the author of Good Cooking Every Day, Around the Table and A Year of Simple Family Food (all published with Plum).

Korean-Australian writer and illustrator Myo Yim has worked on more than 15 books including Rajah Street (Walker Books) and White Sunday (HGCP).

Scribble publisher Miriam Rosenbloom said, ‘Julia’s storytelling combined with Myo’s stunning illustrations makes this such a special debut. Food books are close to our hearts at Scribble, and we’re thrilled to bring Julia’s beloved voice to our young readers.’

Busuttil Nishimura said, ‘I am absolutely overjoyed to be releasing my first children’s picture book. Together with Myo Yim’s stunning illustrations, this book captures the magic of family and food and celebrates the importance of tradition. I am so excited for Sundays Under the Lemon Tree to be in the hands and kitchens of young readers everywhere!’

Scribble plans to release Sundays Under the Lemon Tree on 4 November 2025.
