A&U acquires Ronald’s second romcom
Allen & Unwin (A&U) has acquired world rights to Power Moves, Leesa Ronald’s second romcom novel.
In Power Moves, ‘a workaholic communications staffer is determined to guide her beloved boss to a stunning re-election win,’ said the publisher. ‘The only thing standing in her certain path to success is her nemesis – an ex-rugby star she’s known since university who is now a political journalist wunderkind.’
On a farm in the Central West region of NSW, Ronald grew up using schoolwork as an excuse to avoid sheepwork. She studied media and communications, and has worked in magazines and corporate communications. Ronald is now based in Orange, NSW, a town that was used as the setting of her first novel, Special Delivery.
Ronald said, ‘This book is a high-stakes romp with heat, banter and many heartwarming moments, in amongst the chaos of a political election campaign. I’m so excited for it to hit the shelves in December. It’ll be the perfect fast-paced beach read, with plenty of themes and plot points readers will hopefully be desperate to discuss with their friends.’
A&U publisher Annette Barlow said, ‘If you love a great romcom, run, do not walk, towards Leesa Ronald. Reading Leesa’s second novel was an absolute delight, and I was thrilled to contract it and thrilled to work with Leesa once again. She’s very, very funny; her characters, Camilla (Millsy) and Archie, are perfect foils for each other; and throughout the high stakes and high drama, Leesa brings depth into her story with thought-provoking themes. I’m predicting a fabulous writing future for Leesa!’
A&U plans to release Power Moves in December.
