Project Editor job description:

• Full time (38-hour week)
• Location: Leichhardt, NSW
• Salary $65,000 and above with requisite experience

Rockpool Publishing is a dynamic, award-winning Australian publisher with an international outlook. Our authors hail from around the world, and we publish more than 100 new titles and co-editions every year for Australian and international markets.

We’re seeking a proactive, organised and detail-oriented individual to join our Publishing team. The successful applicant will work closely with the publishing team and make product. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of book publishing.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing publishing projects to meet publication goals
• Managing product metadata in relation to your products
• Handling author and agent enquiries
• Assessing and developing manuscripts
• Liaising with the managing editor to coordinate the editing and production processes
• Liaising with internal staff, as well as local and international publishing partners.

Skillset:

• Project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to plan effectively and manage changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience in all MS Office programs, including Word and Excel proficiency.
• 5 years previous experience structurally editing, developing and managing illustrated non-fiction titles to finished art.
