Transit Lounge acquires Hinton’s second crime novel

Transit Lounge has acquired world rights to SD Hinton’s new crime novel, Inlet Bridge, via Sarah McKenzie Literary Management.

‘The inspiration for Inlet Bridge came in two parts,’ said Hinton. First was ‘Harry, strong and vivid, and I wrote a standalone chapter capturing who he was as a person and what his life looked like. Back then, I had no idea where Harry fitted. It wasn’t until a number of years later, during an eighteen month stay in the peaceful beauty of southern Tasmania that the second part of the inspiration arrived. I had an image of two people walking arm in arm across a narrow timber bridge at dusk. Behind them, a truck rattles onto the bridge, its driver distracted. They all come together, and a crime takes place. And with that, I knew Harry had finally found his home’.

Based in Western Victoria, Hinton is the author of The Brothers (HarperCollins 2022). Hinton has worked as an anaesthetic nurse, in health education and has travelled extensively. Now, having overcome difficulties with dyslexia, she writes full time.

Transit Lounge publisher Barry Scott said, ‘This is a brilliantly written, taut and fast-paced crime thriller. SD Hinton has a true flair for captivating characters and Inlet Bridge is brimming with tight prose, provocative dialogue, gallows humour and a final twist that turns your understanding of the story on its head. I devoured the novel in a day.’

Inlet Bridge is set to be published in November 2026.
