Together We Read online bookclub announces 2025 title

Together We Read AU has announced that the fifth annual online bookclub, running 12–26 August 2025, will read Smoke by Michael Brissenden (Affirm).

Smoke can be downloaded via the Libby App, which will have no holds or waiting periods for the duration of the bookclub, and readers can participate on the Together We Read AU site. 

The bookclub will host two live, virtual events:

• Wednesday 20 August at 7:30pm AWST for WA Readers
• Tuesday 26 August 7:30pm AEST for readers elsewhere in Australia.

Smoke follows Detective Alex Markov, who is sent back to her hometown, Jasper, to investigate a body found in a shed locked from the outside after wildfires sweep through the area.

Last year’s book was Body of Lies by Sarah Bailey (A&U).
