Island Readers and Writers Festival announced

The inaugural Island Readers and Writers Festival will be held in Nipaluna / Hobart on 29 May–1 June 2026.

Produced by literary organisation and magazine Island, the festival is accepting expressions of interest (EOIs) from ‘writers, poets, spoken word performers, storytellers and literary artists interested in participating in the 2026 festival program’, said organisers.

Submissions will be considered for the festival’s public program, the school program or the teachers and tertiary program. According to organisers, ‘Tasmanian Aboriginal writers, culturally and linguistically diverse artists, and creators from regional and remote communities’ are particularly encouraged to submit.
