Readings 2025 New Australian Fiction Prize shortlist announced
Readings has announced the shortlist for the 2025 Readings New Australian Fiction Prize.
This year’s six shortlisted books are:
- The Confidence Woman (Sophie Quick, A&U)
- Edenhope (Louise Le Nay, Text)
- The Honeyeater (Jessie Tu, A&U)
- I Want Everything (Dominic Amerena, Summit Books)
- Together We Fall Apart (Sophie Matthiesson, Pantera)
- Translations (Jumaana Abdu, Vintage).
First established in 2014, the Readings Prize aims to ‘support and champion new and outstanding Australian voices’.
The winner will be announced alongside the winner of the Young Adult Prize, the Children’s Fiction Prize and the Gab Williams Prize for Young Adult Literature at Readings’ A Day in Carlton festival on Friday 14 November 2025. Each category winner will receive $5000 and the Gab Williams Prize winner will receive $1000.
Last year’s winner of the Readings New Australian Fiction Prize was Emma Darragh for Thanks for Having Me (Joan).
