Books for Cooks named ‘2025 Legend’

The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival (MFWF) has inducted Books for Cooks bookshop owners Tim White and Amanda Schulze to its Legends Hall of Fame in the Communicators, Educators category.

Legends judge Sofia Levin said, ‘The shop itself is a destination for both local home cooks and visiting chefs and foodies. In my opinion, it’s essential visiting for any food lover. Tim and Amanda firmly stand their ground as an independent retailer – of niche books! – in an online era.’

Food writer Alice Zaslavsky was also named a Trailblazer in the Communicators, Educators category.

‘Indefatigable. Voracious. Unflagging. A champion. A cheerleader. A vegetable evangelist. Eternally enthusiastic. Everything she does is solid gold,’ said judge Dan Sims of Zaslavsky.

Launched in 1993, the MFWF Hall of Fame recognises ‘leaders, groundbreakers and visionaries of Victoria’s food, drink and hospitality industry’.

Inductions are peer-nominated, and nominees must ‘have made a significant contribution to food or drink’ over at least 15 years in hospitality in Victoria.

Meanwhile, Trailblazers category recognises nominees ‘who have broken new ground in food or drink’, but does not have a longevity requirement.

More information about MFWF and the Legends Hall of Fame is available on the MFWF website.
