We are looking for a creative, experienced Senior Editor to join our editorial team and help us shape the next generation of beloved children’s literature.

The Job Profile

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Editor to join our dynamic children’s editorial team to support our creators and our successful publishing program. In the role you’ll help us to publish the most exciting and distinctive talent, championing books, authors and illustrators with a clear vision, creatively and commercially. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an award-winning children’s only publishing house.

The Role

Reporting to the Publisher, you will manage your own titles from manuscript delivery to printer-ready files, including structural and line editing, proofreading, liaising with authors and illustrators, agents, freelancers and inhouse colleagues, copywriting and using the title management system, Biblio.

The Candidate Profile

You will have a passion for children’s books and ideally have experience as a Senior Editor working in children’s publishing. You will be a motivated, committed, creative, flexible individual with excellent editorial skills, a forensic eye for detail, a thorough understanding of editorial and production processes and proven experience on long-form fiction, picture-book texts and editorial-led art direction.

We are a small team, so you will be happy to pitch in and you will have strong communication, project-management, organisational and time-management skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to the demands of managing multiple schedules. Knowledge of the children’s book market would be beneficial.

This is a full-time permanent role, with a flexible working arrangement including working from home and in the office in Sydney.
