Little Big Sky acquires Baker’s picture books in four-book deal

Little Big Sky has acquired world rights to Calm Your Farm and I Love to Draw by Dale Baker in a four-book deal, marking the imprint’s first acquisition since launching this year.

According to the publisher, Calm Your Farm is a rhyming picture book set on a chaotic farm ‘about routines, resilience and learning to chill – even when your farm is completely unhinged’. I Love to Draw is another rhyming picture book that helps ‘young artists discover how simple shapes turn into creative wonders’.

Based in Victoria, Baker is the author of Arty Farty Marty, The Paint Smashin’ Kraken (Five Mile), which was shortlisted for the 2018 YABBA Awards, Koala Awards and Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award, Flip (self-published), How to Be Clever Forever (self-published) and Dream a Dream (self-published).

Of Baker’s work, Big Sky Publishing co-owner and marketing and communications director Sharon Evans said, ‘His stories perfectly capture the spirit of joy, imagination and resilience that we want this imprint to stand for.’

Little Big Sky plans to publish Calm Your Farm and I Love to Draw in February 2026, with the remaining two titles to follow throughout the year.
