Indigenous Literacy Foundation announces new ambassadors

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) has announced seven new ambassadors for 2026.

The ambassadors are:

  • Anh Do (ILF ambassador)
  • Lucas Proudfoot (ILF ambassador)
  • Tehya Makani (ILF ambassador)
  • Bronte Charles (ILF youth ambassador)
  • Mia Speed (ILF youth ambassador)
  • Tammy Abala (ILF community ambassador)
  • Shane Tipuamantamerri (ILF community ambassador).

The ambassador program involves “authors, artists, educators, and advocates who support Indigenous literacy by lending their voices, platforms and expertise to our programs”, said organisers.

Abala and Tipuamantamerri, co-founders of Mamanta, an organisation supporting Indigenous businesses, are the inaugural community ambassadors.

Tipuamantamerri said, “Having grown up as a community kid with little interest in reading or books, it gives me a great sense of pride and honour to now promote, share in and celebrate the good work and the ways in which Indigenous Literacy Foundation positively impacts our communities.”

ILF CEO Ben Bowen said, “The ILF’s Ambassador program is pivotal to its engagement with key stakeholders and donor communities. Many of the publishing and literacy-based projects as well as the major promotional campaigns we undertake rely on the input and commitment of our ambassadors, and we are incredibly grateful for that.”

More information about the ambassador program is available on the ILF website.
