Random House acquires Cherry Lake Publishing Group

In the US, Random House Children’s Books (RHCB), a division of Penguin Random House, has acquired children’s publisher Cherry Lake Publishing Group.

According to PW, the sale involves approximately 6000 titles.

Cherry Lake Publishing Group’s 6 imprints – Sleeping Bear Press, Cherry Lake Press, Cherry Blossom Press, 45th Parallel Press, Torch Graphic Press, and Tilbury House Publishers – span trade picture books, classroom nonfiction, graphic novels, and titles supporting literacy and social and emotional learning.

RHCB said that Cherry Lake “will continue to operate independently, maintaining its entrepreneurial culture, brand identity, and leadership team”, reported Publishers Weekly.

This is the same model Penguin Random House foreshadowed during earlier acquisitions, including its takeover of Sourcebooks in 2019.
