Small Press Network partners with IPG UK
The Small Press Network (SPN) in Australia and the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG) in the United Kingdom have established “a new alliance to provide their members with mutual benefits,” said the organisations in a joint statement.
The Independent Publishers’ Partnership aims to bring independent publishers in both countries “closer together and share a range of resources and expertise from the two networks”.
Under the partnership, SPN members will have access to the IPG Skills Hub, an online gateway for training and professional development; receive updates on the IPG’s latest membership events, resources and services; and receive international publishing news. Members will also be entitled to attend IPG conferences, join its training courses at preferential rates and exhibit on its popular collective stand at the London Book Fair.
The SPN, which is “in the process of a reorganisation to revitalise its operations”, will facilitate new publishing connections for IPG members. UK-based publishers will receive quarterly updates on developments and trends in trade and academic publishing in Australasia, providing them with additional insights into market developments and issues.
After an initial trial period, the two organisations plan to extend the new Independent Publishers’ Partnership with “further joint services and content-sharing in the future,” said the statement.
IPG chief executive Bridget Shine said, “Members of the IPG and the Small Press Network share many opportunities and challenges, and our new Independent Publishers’ Partnership is a great way to bring our networks together. We’re really looking forward to pooling our knowledge and experience and making independent publishers in the UK and Australia even more successful.”
SPN chair Nathan Hollier said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Independent Publishers Guild and to expand our capacity to grow our contacts, share information, publish strongly and reach new readers.”
