James, Bradley win business book of the year award
Glen James and Nick Bradley have won the 7th Australian Business Book Award for The Quick Start Guide to Investing (Wiley).
Founders Michael Hanrahan and Andrew Griffiths announced James, Bradley and the winners of all categories on Tuesday night.
Chosen from over 100 entries, the category winners are:
Book of the year
- The Quick Start Guide to Investing (Glen James and Nick Bradley, Wiley)
Entrepreneurship and small business
- The Business Bible (Victoria Devine, Penguin)
General business
- The Chairman’s Lounge (Joe Aston, Scribner)
Health and wellbeing
- Demystifying Dementia (Rose Capp, Text)
Leadership
- Breaking the Boss Bias (Catherine Fox, NewSouth)
Management and HR
- The Negotiation Playbook (Glin Bailey, Wiley)
Personal development
- The Negotiation Playbook (Glin Bailey, Wiley)
Personal finance and investment
- The Quick Start Guide to Investing (Glen James and Nick Bradley, Wiley)
Specialist business
- Six Figures While You Sleep (Kate Toon, Major Street).
Of the winning titles, the judging panel said, “The standard of books just gets better and better and continues to impress […] It is wonderful to see such a thriving Australian business book scene.”
The book of the year winners receive $1000 cash and a one-hour publishing consultation with co-founder, author and former publisher Michael Hanrahan.
The Australian Business Book Awards are an annual nonprofit prize. Entry fees for the award cover the competition administration, with any profits donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). This year, $8500 was donated to the ILF, bringing the total amount donated over the life of the awards to $73,500.
Last year’s book of the year winner was Leading Wellbeing (Fleur Heazlewood, Major Street).
