Children’s and Special Sales Manager

Hachette Australia is seeking a full-time Children’s and Special Sales Manager to join their Sales team. This role works closely with the Education and Special Sales channels and is a key contributor in driving the success of our Children’s publishing.

About the role:

Hachette Australia is seeking a Children’s and Special Sales Manager to implement, support and drive Hachette Australia’s Children’s and Special Sales success and strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, commercially driven sales person, able to creatively drive strategic growth and with a passion for Children’s books. It is a full-time permanent position based in Sydney.

Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Management of Children’s and Special Sales key customers such as Scholastic, Aldi, state governments and charities.
  • New business development within these channels.
  • Management of Special Sales titles from product creation to delivery.
  • Liaison with the Special Sales teams in the UK and US to maximise opportunities across territories.
  • To contribute to the overall sales strategy for Children’s books

About you:

You are passionate about children’s books and brings that enthusiasm into everything you do. You are a strong and effective communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels, working collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders. You are commercially driven and analytically minded, demonstrating strong account management skills and commercial acumen, with a clear focus on delivering profit. You are an innovative, solution-oriented thinker, curious about the best way forward and confident in making strategic decisions.

You are also an effective people manager with strong motivational skills, supported by excellent organisational planning and negotiating abilities. You are comfortable presenting and pitching ideas, ambitious to be best in class, and capable of developing a strong working knowledge of internal systems and programmes. Strong PC skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint, are essential to support analysis, planning, and communication.
