PRH acquires Hannan’s next novel
Penguin Random House Australia (PRH) has acquired Australian rights to I Love the Whole World! by Victoria Hannan, a novel about friendship, ageing and the extra/ordinary act of deciding to begin again, via a deal brokered by Pippa Masson at Curtis Brown Australia.
In I Love the Whole World!, Leslie McDonald wins a trip to Las Vegas. Feeling her life has been “series of things that just happened to her” including her husband leaving her, Leslie decides to make the trip to Las Vegas. She falls in love with the desert, the art there, and the people, and manages to find her way back to herself.
Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Hannan is a photographer and writer. Her previous novels include Kokomo (Hachette, 2020) and Marshmallow (Hachette, 2023).
Of the forthcoming novel, Hannan said, “I Love The Whole World! marks a departure from my previous work and I can’t wait to introduce readers to my friend Leslie. She’s funny, silly, strange and in the depths of perimenopause so quite sweaty and very tired. I hope people will enjoy going on this journey with her as much as I did.”
Publisher Meredith Curnow said, “You will snort laugh and spit your tea when you read ILTWW! Your heart will also bleed a little for Leslie. And when you close that last page, I bet you go out and do something that brings you joy.”
I Love the Whole World! is set to be published in Australia in August 2026 and in North America with Scribner in 2027.
