Special sales manager children’s, Melbourne

Simon & Schuster

Join Simon & Schuster Australia to lead the sales and profit strategy for our premier children’s lists across School, Library, and Trade channels. This Melbourne-based hybrid role focuses on nurturing a high-value existing portfolio while capturing new business in specialised markets.

The Role

You will develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies tailored to education, library, and specialty retail sectors like zoos and museums. Beyond managing established accounts, you will identify growth opportunities within government, early learning, and corporate channels.

Working closely with the Children’s Marketer and Sales Director, this role will also be responsible for the maintenance and promotion of the online education hub and for the development of promotional materials that highlight the educational value of titles for key accounts. Maintaining commercial rigor is essential, as you will assess deal-by-deal profitability and provide accurate budget forecasting.

The Candidate

We are seeking a commercially-minded professional with a genuine passion for children’s literature and proven experience in publishing sales, specifically within library or education channels. You must be a confident negotiator capable of delivering results against long-term deadlines and presenting compelling pitches to diverse audiences. High numeracy and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required to manage sales budgets and reporting accurately.

This role involves frequent attendance in our Melbourne office and occasional interstate travel.
