Blake Poetry Prize 2026 shortlist announced

Liverpool Powerhouse and WestWords have announced the poets shortlisted for the 2026 Blake Poetry Prize, worth $5000.

The shortlisted works are:

  • “Aftermath” by Terri Slanovits
  • “Father” by Phillippa Cordwell
  • “Jigar in a Jar” by Freshta Nawabi
  • “Ode to Prednisone” by Omar Sakr
  • “Post Vespers” by Kathryn Reese
  • “Ten Blessings of Upper Blessington” by Adrienne Eberhard
  • “There’s No Such Thing as Astrology* (Or: The Last Trump / Odious Joy)” by Allison Browning
  • “The Woman Who Refused the Kingdom of Forgetting” by Chen Wang.

The Blake Prize is an open poetry prize that “challenges poets, both national and international, in conversations concerning faith, spirituality, religion and/or belief”.

The winner will be announced on 1 May.
