Macmillan US to close Roaring Brook, launch new imprint

In the US, Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group (MCPG) has announced the closure of the Roaring Brook Press imprint and the launch of a new, as yet unnamed imprint, reports Publishers Weekly (PW).

Founded in 2002 and sold to Holtzbrinck 2 years later, Roaring Brook Press published picture books, fiction and nonfiction for young readers, with notable titles including the Caldecott-winning picture books We Are Water Protectors (Carole Lindstrom, illus by Michaela Goade), Sick Day for Amos McGee (Philip C Stead, illus by Erin E Stead), The Man Who Walked Between the Towers (Mordicai Gerstein) and My Friend Rabbit (Eric Rohmann).

MCPG’s planned new imprint will be for nonfiction and illustrated books. “As part of the changes, 6 individuals have been laid off from MCPG,” reported PW.
