Island Readers & Writers Festival 2026 program

The inaugural Island Readers & Writers Festival, which will run from 28 May to 1 June, has announced its event program.

Presented across 7 series – in conversations, panel discussions, masterclasses and workshops, “the Business of Writing”, live reads, “Read Write Publish” and a schools program – the festival features more than 60 authors and illustrators appearing at 3 central Nipaluna/Hobart venues.

Authors appearing at the festival include Miles Franklin winner Amanda Lohrey, former Canberra Writers Festival director Beejay Silcox, and Stella Prize winner Evelyn Araluen, as well as Garth Nix, Hannah Kent, Heather Rose, James Bradley, Jane Rawson, Julie Janson, Micaela Sahhar, Michael Winkler, Robbie Arnott, Shaun Tan, Steve Toltz and Winnie Dunn.
