Pink Shorts Press acquires Ball’s “A Map and Other Parts”
Pink Shorts Press has acquired world rights to Timmah Ball’s A Map and Other Parts.
The publisher described the work as “a poetic interrogation of Australia’s relationship with the built environment”.
Ball is a writer of Ballardong Noongar heritage “whose work plays effortlessly with written and constructed forms”, said the publisher. Ball’s work has appeared in a variety of publications and includes her 2021 chapbook Do Planners Dream of Electric Trees?.
Said Ball: “I am beyond excited to see A Map and Other Parts move from a manuscript that has gone through a variety of interactions in a Google Drive, to a published book. Through mostly fictional reflections on cities, place, art and architecture I want to delve into the strange, beautiful and often unsettling ways that we inhabit urban spaces. I’m obsessed with cities, their sordid histories and unclear futures and hope to bring the dark, humorous and joyful aspects of how and why most of us chose to live in them through this book.”
Pink Shorts Press plans to publish A Map and Other Parts in March 2027.
