Varuna announces 2026 Irish Lamplight Online Fellowship recipients

Varuna, the National Writers’ House, has announced the selected writers for the 2026 International Lamplight Online Fellowship – Ireland, a 2-week online fellowship for published fiction writers under the combined mentorship and support of Varuna and the Irish Writers Centre.

The selected Australian writers are:

• Kai Ash
• Christine Evans
• Penni Russon
• Kirsten Tranter.

Irish writers selected are Byddi Lee, Fiona McKay, Niamh Boyce and Patrick Chapman.

The online program will run from 15 to 26 June 2026 and includes a writer’s conversation with Mary Anne Butler and Conor Kostick, and online Q&A sessions with Australian writer Hannah Kent and Irish writer Mike McCormack.
