Allen & Unwin acquires Gyton Grantley’s “Il Dolce Fiasco”
Allen & Unwin has acquired world rights to Il Dolce Fiasco by Gyton Grantley from Henrie Stride Management.
La Dolce Fiasco tells “the inspiring and very funny story” of Grantley’s move with his wife Alex and 3 children to live in Sardinia for 18 months. Said the publisher: “Gyton knew it wouldn’t be all idyllic beaches, romantic laneways, and the world’s best food. He knew they’d face challenges, hurdles, and probably stumble along the way. What he didn’t know was how turbulent, yet enriching, their Italian adventures would be.”
Grantley is an Australian actor and presenter who gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the late convicted murderer and drug trafficker Carl Williams in the Underbelly series. In 2023, he participated in the Australian edition of reality series The Traitors and in 2024 partnered with comedian and friend Nikki Osborne to compete in The Big Trip, an outback adventure race. He is an ambassador with the charity HeartKids, which supports children affected by congenital heart disease.
Said Grantley: “Some people go overseas to find themselves. We went with 3 children under 6, so mostly we found missing shoes, unpaid bills, and the nearest gelato shop. But somewhere in all that, we found ourselves. We pressed pause on ordinary life and accidentally walked into an incredible adventure.”
Publisher Sally Heath said: “Gyton has a huge appetite for life and this joyful book is a wonderful entrée into him and his family leaping into an Italian exploration. There are new friends, beautiful beaches, accidents, misunderstandings, and so much food, but at its heart, it is a story of gratitude.”
Allen & Unwin plans to publish La Dolce Fiasco in November 2026.
