ASAL award winners announced

The Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) has announced winners of awards, including the ALS Gold Medal.
Winners in each category are:
ALS Gold Medal
(outstanding literary work)
- Elegy, Southwest (Madeleine Watts, Ultimo Press)
Mary Gilmore Award
(best first book of poetry)
- Gravity and Gravel (Liv Moriarty, No More Poetry)
Magarey Medal
(biography)
- Elizabeth Harrower: The Woman in the Watch Tower (Susan Wyndham, NewSouth)
AD Hope Prize
(best paper delivered by a postgraduate student)
- Stacey Roberts for “The Moon over Moller Street: Poetic ‘Leavening’ of Social Realism in Dorothy Hewett’s Bobbin Up”.
