Wheeler Centre 2026 Hot Desk Fellows announced

The Wheeler Centre has announced the 22 successful applicants for its 2026 Hot Desk Fellowships.

The emerging writers who will be this year’s fellows are:

  • Grace Hall (Gabrielle Williams Fellowship)

  • Gurmeet Kaur
  • Lise Leitner
  • Sarinah Masukor
  • Madison Pawle
  • Vuong Pham
  • Jana Pleyto
  • Ernest Price
  • Tayla Richardson
  • Shahrin Shamim (Just Pretending Playwright)
  • Samantha Smith
  • Saraid Taylor
  • Annie Zhang.

Wheeler Centre CEO Erin Vincent said the fellowships “are one of the most meaningful things we do – giving emerging writers a desk and a creative community”.

Now in its 15th year, the fellowship program offers each participant a $1250 stipend and a desk in the Wheeler Centre’s Melbourne building for a 10-week period. Fellows also share work in the Wheeler Centre’s Next Big Thing reading event series.
