Transit Lounge acquires Thompson novel

Transit Lounge has acquired world rights to Karenlee Thompson’s novel Notes from the White Room through NAC Literary Agency.

The novel follows Hunter, “a lost soul searching for her missing mother, and grieving her relationship with Casper, a musician,” said publisher Barry Scott.

When Hunter becomes a painter, her career flourishes, but there is still the ache of absence. “The novel embodies the truth and complexity of a life, but it does so with such nuance and ease that it effortlessly carried me with it,” Scott added.

Thompson said, “The novel is inspired Wilfredo Prieto’s [conceptual artwork] White Library, which is part of the permanent collection at MONA, but also by my own travels and life experiences. In the end, what are any of us but the dust of our interactions?”

Scott said, “I instantly fell in love with the character of Hunter in this assured and literary novel.”

Karenlee Thompson is the author of Flame Tip: Short Fictions (Hybrid, 2017). She also writes crime fiction as KD Aldyn for the US publisher Poisoned Pen Press. Thompson holds a degree in journalism and English literature.

Notes from the White Room is scheduled for release in May 2027.
