John Button Prize 2012 shortlist announced

The John Button Foundation has announced the shortlist for the 2012 John Button Prize.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • Quarterly Essay 44, Man-Made World: Choosing Between Progress and Planet (Andrew Charlton, Black Inc.)
  • Quarterly Essay 45: Us & Them: On the Importance of Animals (Anna Krien, Black Inc.)
  • The Australian Moment: How We Were Made for These Times (George Megalogenis, Viking).

 

The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 31 August during the Melbourne Writers Festival.

The John Button Prize is worth $20,000 and is presented annually to the best piece of writing on policy and politics. The 2011 prize was awarded to There Goes The Neighbourhood: Australia and the Rise of Asia by Michael Wesley (NewSouth).
