NLA to preserve web plug-in ‘Stop Tony Meow’

Browser extension Stop Tony Meow has been selected for preservation by the National Library of Australia’s (NLA) web archive Pandora, reports SBS.

Pandora (Preserving and Accessing Networked Documentary Resources of Australia) was created by the NLA in 1996 to ‘document the cultural, social, political life and activities of the Australian community and intellectual and expressive activities of Australians’. More than 39,000 websites have been preserved by Pandora since its inception.

The Stop Tony Meow app, created almost a year ago by Matt Kelsh, Dan Nolan and Ben Taylor, replaces images of Prime Minister Tony Abbott with kittens and has been installed more than 100,000 times.
