The collections of 14 Australian cultural institutions are now available online via the Google Cultural Institute of Australia, reports ProBono News.

The Google Cultural Institute currently showcases 60,000 artworks from organisations in over 60 countries in high resolution online.

Federal Minister for the Arts George Brandis said at the launch of the Australian Institute: ‘Google Australia is providing a generous gift to the Australian public through this collaboration with our museums, libraries and galleries—demonstrating what can be achieved when arts, business and philanthropy come together.’

Participating Australian institutions include the State Library of New South Wales, National Archives of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, Australian National Maritime Museum, Australian War Memorial, Queensland Museum and Sydney Opera House.
