3M Cloud Library launches in Australia and UK
3M Library Systems has announced that it will expand its Cloud Library Digital Lending System to libraries in Australia and the UK.
Libraries will be able to curate their own collection of titles by selecting from the system’s catalogue of several thousand ebooks and e-audiobooks. Borrowers will be able to access titles through 3M Cloud Library apps on their smartphones and tablets, via their PCs or Macs, or by ‘side-loading’ on to their Nook, Sony or Kobo ereaders. Borrowers will also be able to access titles within a library using 3M’s ‘Discovery Stations’.
3M Library Systems global business leader Matt Tempelis said in a statement: ‘Libraries across the world are increasingly faced with the challenge of how they can meet the needs of technologically-savvy borrowers, who expect digital services that “just work”. We created 3M Cloud Library to be easy for libraries to manage and a dream for readers to use, and have seen tremendous growth. The next frontier for us is bringing the benefits of those services to new territories to encourage borrowers to make greater use of libraries.’
3M Cloud Library is currently available in more than 1000 libraries in the US and Canada.
