Authors announced for Brisbane council’s writer in residence program

The authors participating in the Brisbane city council’s $100,000 writers in residence program, designed to use bestselling authors to promote reading and writing, have been announced.

The authors participating include bestselling author Liane Moriarty, speaking at Wynnum Library on 2 August; children’s book authors Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton at Brisbane City Hall on 14 August; wheelchair athlete John Maclean at Carindale Library on 22 August; writers for the satirical comedy team The Chaser, speaking at Brisbane City Hall on 9 August; and former Fairfax columnist and author Mike Carlton, speaking at Carindale Library on 1 August.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, lord mayor Graham Quirk announced the writers in residence program as a commitment prior to his election in 2012.
