Hospital libraries project wins ALIA Research Grant Award

Ann Ritchie and Michele Gaca have won the 2016 ALIA Research Grant Award for their project, ‘The contribution of Australian hospital libraries towards their organisations’ achievement of accreditation by the National Safety and Quality in Health Care Service (NSQHS) Standards’.

The ALIA board awarded the pair $5000 to fund their research. The project has three objectives: to explore the ways that health libraries are currently assisting organisations in achieving accreditation to identify best practices and enable peer learning; to design expert searches assisting organisations to stay up-to-date with current research literature relevant to gaining NSQHS Standards; and to assess the availability of resource materials referenced in NSQHS Standards documentation.

All Australian hospitals are required to be accredited by the NSQHS Standards.
