Geelong Library wins National Architecture Award

The Geelong Library and Heritage Centre was awarded the Sir Zelman Cowen Award for public architecture at the Australian Institute of Architects’ 2016 National Architecture Awards.

The library, which was designed by ARM Architects, also received national commendation for its interior architecture. The jury described it as a ‘vibrant and energised vertical village where the community can meet, collaborate, engage, learn and celebrate’ and ‘a significant new landmark for Geelong’.

The City of Perth Library and Public Plaza by Kerry Hill Architects also received commendation in the public architecture category.

Forty projects from across Australia were honoured at the awards. For more information, click here.
