‘Long-promised’ Gosford regional library delayed again

A ‘long-promised’ regional library in Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast has been delayed for ‘procedural’ reasons, reports Coast Community News.

At a council meeting on 24 January the council resolved to withdraw a public tender for an architectural consultancy and detailed design plans. The council also sought an extension to a $7m grant from the federal government. Another $8.1m has been raised over 15 years from a ratepayer levy.

In 2015 the council voted to move ahead with the plans for the library after the State Library of NSW reviewed nine possible options. Draft designs were made in February 2016, however, subsequent advice questioned the affordability of the proposed design and location.
