SLV to develop centre for early-stage entrepreneurs after $2m donation

Businesswoman Christine Christian has donated $2m to the State Library of Victoria to fund a new centre supporting early stage entrepreneurs.

The Start Space centre will be established as part of the library’s Vision 2020 redevelopment, and will provide emerging entrepreneurs with free access to resources, programs and mentors to ‘transform business ideas from concept to reality’.

Christian said the library is a ‘natural home’ for the centre. ‘The Library has always been a place where anyone can freely access information and knowledge to help them reach their potential,’ she said. ‘For those keen to innovate across any field—creative, artistic, tech, or social enterprise—Start Space will be a game-changer.’

The library will also host the Christine Christian Entrepreneur-in-Residence program to support an individual entrepreneur annually.
