Brisbane City Council library staff are among the council staff taking protected industrial action in response to the council’s 2.5% pay rise offer, reports the Courier Mail.
Services Union secretary Neil Henderson said members wanted a higher pay rise as part of the agreement, which would last until 2020, and a reduction in the use of temporary workers in favour of more permanent staff.
The action, which includes ‘working to rule and refusing to action emails’, began on 19 July. A council spokesperson said the industrial action would have ‘minimal impact’ on library visitors.
