Greek Community of Melbourne partners with National Library of Greece on new diaspora library

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) and the National Library of Greece (NGL) have signed an agreement to create a Global Greek Diaspora Library to open in 2018, reports Greek Reporter.

The new library at the Greek Centre in Melbourne will provide access to the NGL’s archives, including over 50 original handwritten Bibles and other historical texts.

University of Melbourne professor Nikos Papastergiadis said ‘maintaining, chronicling our literature, history and culture are the building blocks for the GCM’. ‘This new Global Greek Diaspora Library will be a key part of the Greek Centre and will attract visitors from around the world,’ said Papastergiadis.
