SLV partners with Redbubble on art competition
The State Library of Victoria (SLV) has partnered with Melbourne-based online creative marketplace Redbubble on a competition for new artwork inspired by the library’s collection.
The competition ‘#createarthistory’ aims to open the library’s collection of over five millions items ‘to more people than ever’. Redbubble’s global artist community will be invited to use the collection to create ‘new and innovative designs’.
State Library Victoria CEO Kate Torney said the partnership was ‘a natural fit for the two creative, Melbourne-based organisations’. “Redbubble is a fantastic Victorian success story and the library is one of the state’s great icons. Together we are seeking to unlock the potential of the library’s collections.”
Entrants will compete for cash prizes, and the winning artwork will be displayed outside the SLV. Successful entrants will also have merchandise featuring their designs sold in Readings stores and their work permanently added to the SLV’s collection.
The competition runs until 30 October 2017. For more information, click here.
