National Book Award 2018 fiction longlist announced

In the US, the National Book Award fiction longlist has been announced.

The finalists in the fiction category are:

  • A Lucky Man (Jamel Brinkley, Graywolf Press)
  • Gun Love (Jennifer Clement, Hogarth)
  • Florida (Lauren Groff, William Heinemann)
  • The Boatbuilder (Daniel Gumbiner, McSweeney’s)
  • Where the Dead Sit Talking (Brandon Hobson, Soho Press)
  • An American Marriage (Tayari Jones, Vintage)
  • The Great Believers (Rebecca Makkai, Fleet)
  • The Friend (Sigrid Nunez, Riverhead)
  • There, There (Tommy Orange, Harvill Secker)
  • Heads of the Colored People (Nafissa Thompson-Spires, Chatto & Windus)
