‘Students Need School Libraries’ campaign website launched

The School Library Coalition has launched the ‘Students Need School Libraries’ website, with the campaign set to begin on 16 October.

The campaign ‘seeks to highlight the importance of having school libraries be run by qualified staff; ensure that all children have access to quality school libraries; and to empower children with the skills and knowledge to be digital and information literate’, according to the announcement.

Organisers are planning a ‘social media takeover’ using the hashtag #StudentsNeedSchoolLibraries.

The School Library Coalition includes the Australian Library and Information association (ALIA) schools committee, Australian School Library Association (ASLA), and school library association branches in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.
