NSW library service to give away street library kits

The Port Macquarie-Hastings Library Service in regional NSW is giving away 10 street library kits to support the street literary movement, reports the Wauchope Gazette.

The library is also hosting a workshop to build or decorate street libraries during Library Week in April.

Library manager Jim Maguire told the Wauchope Gazette that the initiative was designed ‘to encourage community unity at a street level by sharing books and conversations’. He said the street library kits typically cost about $300 and can hold around 30 books.

Members of the community can apply for the kits on the library’s website before 7 April.
