Vic government to provide $44.7m to public libraries for new books, resources, programs

Victorian public libraries have received $44.7 million in funding from the state government to buy new books and e-resources, and to deliver programs such as story time for children and outreach services.

The state government also announced $1.8 million in funding to Vision Australia to provide library services to people who are blind, have low vision or a print disability.

Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek said: ‘We’re giving our councils and public libraries the resources they need to continue delivering important services for Victorian communities. We understand the importance of libraries to Victorians and that’s why we’re continuing to support them with record funding.’
