Writing WA receives Copyright Agency emergency funding for virtual book clubs

Writing WA has launched a virtual event fund with support from the Copyright Agency’s emergency action fund. The virtual event fund will enable WA writers to be paid Australian Society of Authors rates to participate in virtual book club events.

As part of Writing WA’s Love to Read Local campaign, book clubs in WA that are reading or wish to read a book by a WA author can apply to host the author at a virtual event. Writing WA will liaise with the author to confirm their availability and then put them in contact with the book club to make the necessary arrangements.

The fund can support a maximum of 16 events in total, and applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

Further projects funded by the Copyright Agency’s emergency action fund are expected to be announced this week.
