CBCA Book Week 2020 postponed to October
This year’s CBCA Book Week, which usually runs in late August during term three, will now take place in term four, from October 17–23.
The rescheduled dates are due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will only apply to the 2020 event. From next year, the CBCA expects to revert to its usual schedule, in which the annual book awards are announced on the third Friday in August, with Book Week commencing the following day.
The CBCA said in a statement, ‘We made this decision taking into account all of our stakeholders: our members including schools and libraries, the creator community and the publishing and bookselling industries.
‘The CBCA is committed to remaining relevant and dynamic in a very challenging business, arts and community environment. We will embrace every opportunity to continue our work celebrating Australian children’s literature and supporting our stakeholders to do this.’
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Curious creatures, wild minds’. The titles shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year awards can be found here.
